Hints for WMiNET Generic -------------------------------------------------------------- WMiNET supports commandline options, 'wminet -h' prints help about them. WindowMaker -------------------------------------------------------------- WindowMaker users simply drag and drop the WMiNET dock.app on the WindowMaker Dock (preferred) or near the Clip, and then press the rightmouse button on the outer edges of WMiNET, select "Settings..." and enable the "Start when WindowMaker is started" option. Afterstep -------------------------------------------------------------- Afterstep users put the following in their .steprc "Wharf wminet - MaxSwallow "wminet" wminet &". Other WindowManagers -------------------------------------------------------------- For other windowmanagers, WMiNET runs nicely as 64x64 pixel shaped icon on your desktop. p.s. FVWM can swallow it too, so we've heard ;-) Dragging WMiNET -------------------------------------------------------------- Be sure to drag WMiNET on it's outer edges, it's a bit picky due to the large gfx pixmap it keeps ;-) Using WMiNET ------------------------------------------------------------- WMiNET support the following commandline options: -h helpscreen -geometry +XPOS+YPOS (initial window position) -display display name (Default 0:0) -v print wminet version number Setting up the wminetrc file -------------------------------------------------------------- WMiNET can (optionally) launch commands with a left mouse click on one of the 5 information gadgets in the interface statistics display. You may define your settings in ~/.wminetrc, take a look at the supplied wminetrc... Using Port Watchers -------------------------------------------------------------- WMiNET now supports "port watchers". I added this bacause so many people were writting me saying 'add support for this service, add support for that service'. So now, its 100% configurable. You can monitor any ports you want. How this works: in either your /etc/wminetrc or ~/.wminetrc files, you will see options like: portwatch1.pos=0 portwatch1.port=25 portwatch1.label=smtp see how the first option is set to 0? This means it's disabled. To enable it, change the '0' to the slot on WMiNET where you would like it to display. If you set two monitors to the same slot, messy things will happen, so be sure to check that. You can set the .port setting to any TCP prot you wish to count connections on. That's right, custom services, eggdrop bots, whatever you want. The .label field should be self explanitory, but just in case... Set this to the label for the port as you wish it to be shown. Hope this statisfies everyone's requests... I'll add multiple pages and auto-page flipping next release. please email me if you have questions/problems.. dave / illusion clarkd@skyia.com http://www.neotokyo.org/illusion
